Tom Hiddleston returns as the God of Mischief for the second season of Disney+'s Loki. Eric Martin serves as the head writer of Season 2. At the same time, Kasra Farahani, Dan Deleeuw, Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead lend their directing talents.
The thrilling second season of Loki picks up where the first season left off, with Loki finding himself unrecognized by the TVA. He discovers that a statue of a variant of He Who Remains has replaced those of the Time-Keepers, and soon becomes embroiled in a battle to save the Time Variance Authority. Helping Loki in his quest are Mobius (Owen Wilson), Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku), and a new TVA agent named Ouroboros "OB" (Ke Huy Quan), who works in the agency's repairs and progress department. Fans can also expect to see the return of Judge Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and Miss Minutes (Tara Strong) from Season 1.
Season 2 follows Loki as he travels through a constantly growing and perilous multiverse, seeking out Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), a variant of himself. If you recall, in Season 1, this version of Loki killed He Who Remains (Johnthan Majors) and causes the multiverse to fracture. Sylvie now works as a cashier at a McDonald's in 1982.
Ant-Man and the Wasp : Quantumania.
Enthusiasts are in for a treat as Jonathan Majors returns, this time as a different version of Kang The Conqueror. The current season features Majors as Victor Timely, a character initially introduced in the post-credit scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He is an industrial magnate and innovator from the early 1900s who wears glasses and a well-tailored three-piece suit while showcasing his futuristic technology.
Season 2 kicks off with a bang, avoiding the fish-out-of-water trope in season 1. One of the things that the sophomore season of Loki uses to its advantage is using variants. Rafael Casal portrays Brad Wolfe, an actor who is also a TVA prisoner. Casal first caught my attention with his appearances on Def Poetry Jam, so it's great to see how far he's come.
Similarly, Oscar winner and former child star Ke Huy Quan was enjoyable to see on screen as OB. Quan has a natural screen presence; hopefully, his character will continue in the MCU. Hiddleston and Wilson are still at the top of their game in the roles of Loki and Mobius as they engage in a buddy comedy banter.
I want to avoid spoilers as much as possible. The writers don't overcomplicate the time travel angle of the plot. In addition, the Second Season isn't strictly the Tom Hiddleston show. The supporting cast all get moments to shine.
Final Grade: B+
